The Spirit of ANTI-DESIGNING

There are tons of squeaky wheels out there. Those that want peanut free products in the lunch room, others who think scissors should be outlawed in public schools...and still others who, in the context of conversations on appropriate behavior on television, can only ever add comments like "MORE BOOBS!" to the front.

But then every once in a while an unnecessary smear campaign comes along and makes us say...AWWWW.

There's something about designer handbags that makes you want to have them. I haven't quite figured out why, but I've settled somewhere between leather tanning techniques that trigger our brain to snap into desire mode when we see one and the idea that Nicole Ritchie has one...and if I get one...maybe I can be her. Not like her. I can actually BE her.

So when stephanie syjuco of anti-factory.com started asking grassroots crocheters to rip off the designer drugs...er...I mean handbags for what she calls the counterfeit crochet project, a new form of knockoff was born.

Knockoffs that are crafty deserve a SPIRIT OF FUN TOOOT TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
